After obtaining an Engineering degree from the Institut d'Optique Graduate School, Valérian Giesz got his PhD in 2015 for his work on single-photon sources in Pascale Senellart's team at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (C2N). His work was rewarded with two thesis prizes: the EDOM thesis prize of the University of Paris-Sud and the Dim-NanoK thesis prize in the valorization category. In 2017, he trained in entrepreneurship via the HEC Challenge + course. He co-founded the start-up Quandela in 2017 with Pascale Senellart and Niccolo Somaschi. In 2019, he participated in the foundation of the French Tech Paris-Saclay start-up community labelled by the Mission French Tech, which he will co-chair. Since 2019, Valérian is involved in further actions for the development of the Paris-Saclay startup ecosystem.
