Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha, Qatar
Inventor, innovator, writer and outreach enthusiast. Currently Interested in quantum technologies, high energy lasers, radar/lidar and space science with a passion for commercialisation of technology.
Interests:
- atomic clocks and time keeping for sensing and GNSS applications.
- quantum sensors
- quantum computing hardware
- scalability of quantum using systems engineering
I graduated from Southampton with a 1st (with hons) in Physics with a year in experimental research in 2012.
From 2012-2016 I studied for my PhD in physics. My PhD focused on characterisation of nanowires (2 atoms in diameter) embedded within Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes. I also use similar techniques on nanowires (2nm) made by eletro-depositing a material from a super critical fluid state into an array of pores. I specifically use Raman spectroscopy to characterise vibrational modes in these nanowires and investigate the effects of quantum confinement on vibrational and electronic transition energies of the structures.
Specialties I have are:
Radar/Lidar
Defence Quantum technology
Raman spectroscopy
Nanotechnology
Carbon Nanotubes
Graphene
Nano scale fabrication and characterisation
Optical spectroscopy
Space science
Atomic clocks
Timekeeping
Sensing technology
Road mapping
