As Senior Vice President of Booking.com’s FinTech unit, Daniel Marovitz is responsible for facilitating seamless access to the Booking.com marketplace for both customers and partners. As one of the largest global e-commerce companies with business operations in nearly every country and city on the planet, the FinTech landscape at Booking.com presents a unique opportunity for Daniel and his cross-functional team to make buying and selling travel-related products and services through millions of cross-border, cross-currency transactions on a daily basis truly easier for everyone. With a vision to help travelers to pay when, how and in what way they want, they are also at the forefront of the company’s strategy to develop new products that strengthen Booking.com’s position as the platform of choice for travel providers and businesses worldwide, driving innovations to introduce an even wider array of operational efficiencies and value-added financial services. Having led Booking.com’s payments products strategy since 2017 and with a career spanning more than 20 years, Daniel has worked across different industries and continents, including his own software startup. Daniel was previously COO and a member of the executive team at Earthport PLC, a listed, London-based, cross-border payments fintech company. He was also a Co-founder and CEO of buzzumi (acquired by F1000.com), a software platform for online enterprise collaboration. Previously, Daniel was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank for eleven years, and served as Head of Product Management for Deutsche Bank’s Global Transaction Bank. Daniel came to Deutsche Bank from iVillage, where he was Vice President of Commerce and a member of the management team that took the firm public on NASDAQ in 1999. He started his career at Gateway, a PC manufacturer, where he served as the co-founder of the company’s Japanese subsidiary and the head of Gateway.com, which sold the first PC over the Internet. Daniel is a native New Yorker who graduated cum laude from Cornell University in 1994. A patented inventor and published author, he is married with two children. He is fluent in English, Spanish, Japanese and Galician, and is working to improve his Dutch.
